Position Drop Off Chart and Analysis

I’ve been doing some initial analysis of the data from the UDK released today. One of the things I wanted to see was how the projected points drop off for each position. See the chart here: http://greggreno.com/tmp/proj_dropoff.jpg. It’s taken from the UDK full point PPR position rankings.

Here are some initial opinions. Feel free to add to the list:

  • Taking running backs early will be critical. There is a huge drop off with the first few RBs, but the gap keeps widening after that as well.

  • There doesn’t seem to be a big difference in WR #13 and WR #22, so you could probably wait a while to take your 2nd and 3rd WR.

  • Confirms idea that if you don’t get one of the elite QBs, you can wait a while.

  • I can’t ever see using a TE at a flex spot

Any other thoughts?

You probably don’t want to be putting a TE in a flex unless you are just in some horrible injury/bye week storm.

Nice chart, there’s got to be a bit better way to massage that visually though to make it easier to compare. Gives me an idea of throwing some stuff in a spreadsheet to start toying with as well.
