Honestly, I don’t see much of an advantage or disadvantage to either side in this trade. If anything, I lean towards keeping Freeman, but it’s only a slight lean.
Both teams have o-lines that aren’t performing well, though it looks like ATL has put more into their line and so you’d think it would have to come together at some point. CIN’s o-line is just awful…no depth there to sustain the preseason injuries, let alone any more injuries.
Both teams can score, and both RBs are relatively young with some health problems in their past (more for Freeman, for sure).
But in general, I think ATL has a more stable situation, will be in better game scripts, and Ito Smith does not offer the same level of touch-drainage from Freeman as Gio does from Joe.
It’s just my opinion, but I’d keep Freeman.
I’d be really interested to hear what others say, and I could be swayed…
